Alison has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Speech Pathology and a Bachelor of Science (Biology).  After 7 and a half years of university life, she embarked on her Speech Pathology career.  Since then, she has supported preschool and school children for 17 years in public education and  4 years in the private education field. She has considerable expertise working with children and adolescents with hearing impairments and understands the importance of auditory training for all children.  Good attention and listening skills set children up for success within the classroom.  She works with parents/guardians to meet the communication needs of children and adolescents.

[edit] Initial Consultation/ Assessment: 45 Minutes

All initial appointments are scheduled for 45 minutes, generally comprising of a 30 minute assessment session followed by a 15 minute discussion with parents/ guardians. Please bring any relevant assessment or medical reports to this session. Parents/guardians are encouraged to attend this assessment and subsequent therapy sessions. At the end of this session, we will provide you with general feedback on your child’s performance, and if required, recommend a therapy schedule for you to consider. We provide assessment and support in the following areas:

  • Speech
  • Oral language
  • Spelling-focussing on phonological awareness skills (ability to hear, identify and manipulate sounds in words).

[edit] Subsequent Consultations/ Therapy: 30 minutes

The therapy schedule will be tailored to suit your child and their communication difficulties. Weekly, fortnightly or less frequent review appointments may be offered. We will endeavour to make therapy sessions fun for your child, so please let us know if there are particular themes or games that interest them.

At the end of therapy sessions, we will set programming goals with you and/or outline strategies that will support your child. These recommendations can be shared with your child’s child care centre, preschool or school.

  • $95 for initial consultation/assessment—45 minute session
  • $70 for subsequent consultation/therapy—30 minute session
  • $160 for a written report and initial consultation/assessment — 45 minute session for an assessment and a written report.
